  2. My thesis is on Infusing Critical Thinking into our Ag Ed curriculum. I am going to use handicapping of horse races as the model.

  3. Ag education has changed so much since I took FFA in high school in 1960. Even though the program has changed the values haven't.

Look at the mission statements at Illinois. I think their "innovative leader in experiential and outreach education for traditional and non-traditional youth and adults in the Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences..." says alot about future thinking in Ag Ed.

  6. Thinking also about High School administration, school boards, and elected folks that make the decisions regarding our high schools. Seems very rarely they are teachers with real teaching experience.

What would our schools look like if they were run by the teachers, principals and students?

  9. Run by teachers. We already have little kingdoms. Each of us would be at each other's throats with our own political agendas.

Q: Would we get along with teacher's in charge?

  12. Would we get along with teacher's in charge? I think so. Our department meetings were better than staff meetings. At least we were cohesive, not being talked down to. I think what I was thinking was having experienced teachers involved in the decision making process, instead of cram down policy or "let's get ideas from the teachers" then dismiss them.

  15. If Ag Ed is to remain a viable force, then you/it must seek out ways to belong in cities. Too many city schools don't have great Ag programs.
